Pain Management Fees and Charges

Fees and charges by Axxon Pain Medicine for your procedure are based upon fees recommended by the Australian Medical Association. In most instances, the fees and charges by Axxon are substantially less than those recommended by the Australian Medical Association.

If you are undergoing sedation or general anaesthesia for your procedure you will also be responsible for paying your anasethetists account. If you require radiological (X-ray) or pathology services, you are also responsible for these charges. Axxon Pain Medicine will be able to inform you who to contact to determine your anaesthetic, radiology and pathology charges.

No Gap Fees

When the amount your health fund and Medicare rebate pay toward your procedure is equal to the recommended fee for your procedure, you will have no gap to pay.

Gap Fees

Gap fees have arisen because of the difference in amounts that health funds and Medicare will pay towards your procedural costs and the recommended fee. GAP fees have arisen because of the progressive lack of indexation of Medicare and health fund repayments.

Known Gap Fees

Certain health funds will rebate you a higher proportion of fees resulting in a lower GAP for you to pay. In order to take advantage of this higher rebate it a requirement that you sign an agreement to pay your gap before your proposed surgery. This is called ‘informed financial consent’. Your health fund will tell you if they participate in ‘KNOWN GAP FEES’.

Out of Pocket Expenses

Before your admission you will be given an estimate of your out of pocket expenses. If you anticipate difficulty in paying your account , please discuss this with our Practice Manager prior to your procedure.

Overdue accounts

If you are having difficulty in paying your account please contact the Accounts department at Axxon Pain Medicine on (07) 3214 8555 as soon as possible.
