Ben Zugai is a full-time specialist anaesthetist practicing in South East Queensland.
He completed a Bachelor of Medical Science degree with first-class honours and the University of Sydney in 1997, then completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland in 2001.
Dr Zugai undertook his medical residency and specialist training in South East Queensland, culminating in being awarded fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in January 2009. He completed additional fellowship subspecialty time at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital.
During this time Dr Zugai, has published research on airway management techniques, and presented at international scientific meetings.
Dr Zugai worked as a staff specialist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s and the Royal Children’s Hospital from 2010, commencing private practice part-time from September 2012. He continues to work as a part-time (0.5) staff specialist at The Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital. Dr Zugai has participated in outreach aboriginal paediatric ENT services in Queensland remote hospitals.
Dr Zugai’s special interests include paediatrics, obstetrics, airway management, and ultrasound for vascular access and peripheral nerve blocks, as well as teaching medical students and registrars.
