Dr Charles Herdy is a Specialist Anaesthetist in full-time private practice in South-East Queensland.
Charles graduated in medicine from the University of Queensland in 2010 and completed his specialist anaesthesia training across South-East Queensland, including the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, The Prince Charles Hospital, and the Queensland Children’s Hospital. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2019.
Charles joined Axxon Health in 2024 and provides anaesthesia across a broad range of surgical specialties, including ophthalmology, general surgery, gynaecology, orthopaedics, and gastroenterology. He has a particular special interest in anaesthesia for eye surgery and has served as an Eye Anaesthesia Lead in the public hospital system. He maintains a further interest in airway management and remains active in teaching, lecturing for the College of Anaesthetists and is a qualified Advanced Paediatric Life Support instructor.
Medicine is a second career for Charles. He came to it after an earlier career as a systems engineer and an officer in the Australian Regular Army, followed by several years managing complex engineering projects in defence industry.
Outside of medicine, Charles is the busy father of two children, runs a small audiobook publishing business, and is presently reading for a Master of Divinity.
