Dr Florencia La Macchia is a Specialist Anaesthetist with a diverse international background and a commitment to excellence in perioperative care. She earned her medical degree in Argentina and completed her specialist anaesthesia training in Barcelona, obtaining the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology in 2010.
In 2013, Dr La Macchia relocated to Australia, achieving Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2016. Since then, she has contributed her expertise across several Queensland Health hospitals and continues to serve in both the public sector at Mater Hospital and various private healthcare settings.
Dr La Macchia holds a Master of Medicine (MMed) from Monash University and is a Graduate of the Chapter of Perioperative Medicine (GChPOM) through ANZCA. These qualifications underscore her dedication to advancing perioperative care and improving patient outcomes.
Her clinical interests encompass paediatric surgery, ophthalmic procedures, and ENT surgeries, though she maintains a broad practice as a general anaesthetist.
Outside the operating theatre, Dr La Macchia is an avid traveller who enjoys exploring new cultures and cuisines. She is a passionate supporter of the Carlton Football Club in the AFL, enjoys snow sports, and values quality time with her family, which she considers essential for maintaining a balanced and fulfilling life.
